This club honors Bayard Rustin and James Baldwin, two of America’s greatest African American civil rights icons. Rustin was a consummate tactician and strategist who organized the 1963 March on Washington. Baldwin was a powerful and incisive wordsmith who wrote the 1960s civil rights manifesto, “The Fire Next Time.” Rustin and Baldwin were openly gay at a time when being so incited attacks on one’s body and personhood. All told, they were bold men who loved Black people boldly.

At Rustin & Baldwin, everyone is welcome. No conversation is off limits. We discuss social issues, politics, law, music, food, literature, travel, pop culture, living overseas, and much more.
