My goal for Ctrl Burn is to provide people with a space geared toward understanding ourselves and hopefully, in turn others on a deeper, more unified level
Q: Why is the club called Ctrl Burn?
A: A controlled burn as it relates to forest management, is a fire set intentionally in order to maintain its health. Through the controlled burning process invasive and/or dead flora is incinerated, the ashes of which feed the soil in the newly (and intentionally) cleared forest, making way for an abundant forest of young flora. By eliminating dead and dry flora, chances of wildfires are reduced. I believe that we should do the same with ourselves as part of the healing process is setting fire to everything you know and starting anew.
Q- What’s the club about?
A- This is a club dedicated to helping people maintain their mecosystems. Your mecosystem refers to the totality of a persons self. Imagine your psyche (the totality of your unconscious and conscious mind) as both the forest and the forest manager. You are an ecosystem rich and full of life but in all things there must be a balance. Where there is life there is death, where there is growth there is decay, and where there is joy there is sorrow. This balance applies to our psyches as well. It is important to maintain a healthy mind that is capable of holding this balance without tipping too much to either side in the same way it is important to maintain a healthy forest capable of holding nature’s balance. We must manage our mecosystem by intentionally setting fire to it when necessary to prevent a mental wildfire of out of control emotions.
Q- What do I hope to do with my club?
A- Through this community I hope to create an environment where we can share and learn ways of self preservation. Together we can learn to grow with the flow and approach life (ours and that of others) with loving curiosity as we do our best to manage our trip in this crazy place at this crazy time.
Respect The Intent: Each room is set with specific intentions. We expect all speakers to remain grounded in the intention of the space. It is ALWAYS our intention to promote healing and community.
Be Mindful: Be mindful of your ability to engage in a way that doesn’t contribute to chaos/hostility. Be mindful of trigging others, sometimes we do so unexpectedly but be respectful if someone voices concern.
Hold Space: Genuinely listen to others as they speak and come with the intention of understanding what someone is trying to say. Its ok to push back on ideas so long as it’s done respectfully.
