About metaphors but particularly conceptual metaphors and conceptual metaphor theory.
What is a conceptual metaphor? George Lakoff defined it as using one domain as the basis for the domain of another. For example, a question like “Where is our relationship going?” is a LOVE IS A JOURNEY metaphor. Much of the talk of relationships are therefore framed in the form of ‘a journey’. But, of course, love can be framed in other ways as well. The conceptual metaphor one chooses for the framing is evidence of the cognition process of the speaker.
