Politics in Nigeria has never been more unpredictable, more alarming or more interesting: Under 40 Naija Politics is the club that tries to make sense of it all for those who feel marginalised and are not enamoured by the unintellectual propaganda and rhetoric in other spaces.
This club whilst primarily set up to inform millennials is an inclusive space where people of all ages, backgrounds, identities, and beliefs are welcomed.
As Africa’s most populous country, largest economy and most notable democracy, Nigeria is a reference point for the continent. A weakening economy, rising insecurity and violent conflicts threaten progress made in its democratic development. The deepening distrust in government and institutions has created national, state and local security issues for governance ahead of national and state elections in 2023.
A number of key questions will be discussed including but not limited to:
What does the future hold?
Can democracy survive?
How crazy will it get?
It’s the political conversation everyone is having – please join us.
Be respectful: We welcome and encourage fruitful debate and conversation, but please be sure your thoughts are expressed in the vein of respect rather than antagonism. In addition, let’s make this a space for people from all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs. We won’t tolerate threats, harassment, lewdness, hate speech, or other displays of bigotry.
Stay on topic: We expect you to be concise and stay on topic. We understand you may have a lot to stay, however, people who veer off topic will be interjected by the moderators and may be asked to cut short the submission.
Be transparent: Let’s be transparent and honest with our intentions, identity, and behavior in the community. Please use your real name with your account when possible, and never intentionally attempt to mislead other members. This is a collective of peers working together and collaboration is so much richer when everyone comes to it with integrity and clarity.
