Description

Developed by Dr. Edgar Tyson, Hip Hop therapy is a culturally relevant approach to mental health treatment that centers Hip Hop culture and its profound capacity to initiate individual and communal transformation. HHT incorporates the inherently cathartic components of the culture with well-established treatment modalities by highlighting and further operationalizing their overlaps. For more information, please see hiphoptherapy.com

In an effort to spread the word about this approach, we will be having conversations about the theory and practice of Hip Hop therapy, as well as explore the more generalizable therapeutic applications of Hip Hop. Discussions are open to everyone; you do NOT have to be a therapist to participate. We welcome all Hip Hop enthusiasts and hope to encourage interdisciplinary conversations, from artists, activists, and educators to mental health professionals.
