To be a Cristero meant to be a participant or supporter of the popular uprising against the anticlerical government of Mexico in the 1920’s. The Cristero War is a chapter in Mexico's history in the 1920s, when thousands of Catholics answered this crucial question [of religious freedom] at the cost of their very lives. At a time in our history where our churches and religious gatherings have been restricted or prohibited, it is worth recalling the Cristero movement and the implications it has for our current times. Let’s discuss how the Cristero Movement can be an inspiration to all Christians and how we can use its charism to revitalize an awareness of political realities affecting our Church and country.
