We are ALL born as creative storytellers; Children are all puppeteers, actors, singers, dancers, etc. and this room attempts to reconnect ourselves with the practices that bring us the most joy. As oral storytellers & historians, we utilize words to cast spells which dissolve the layers of calcification over our third eyes. Feel free to harness the energetic power of the following poetic/literary devices both within your own writing as well as during your reflections/feedback for each storyteller:

Irony
Irony has a few different meanings:
1. Basic Irony: the use of tone or exaggeration to convey a meaning opposite to what's being literally said.
2. Situational Irony: a situation or event contradicts expectations, usually in a humorous fashion.
3. Dramatic Irony: a situation where the audience of a play, movie, or other piece of art is aware of something that the characters are not.

One mic, one voice.: Every person in this space will be allowed the space to speak without interruption. Interruption is defined as wanting to take someone’s mic mid-sentence, however, words of agreement are encouraged.
Don’t take anything personally.: Inspired by Don Miguel Ruiz’ book, The Four Agreements, remember that the words others speak are an external expression of their internal world perception and a projection of their personal reality.
Don’t make assumptions.: Curiosity is key. If you don’t understand something someone says, ask questions to prevent misunderstandings & facilitate heart to heart communication (versus mind to mind conflict).
