Teaching ELF (English) on Clubhouse

Description

Also referred to as English as an International Language (EIL), English as a Global Language, or World English, English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) is a way of talking about communication in English between speakers of different languages.

English has become the common ground for business, science, technology, entertainment, and the internet. Speakers of all languages are constantly shaping English and helping it evolve into something unique for themselves, and this has to be recognized.

As teachers, it is our responsibility to educate learners about how English can belong to them. This is a space for teachers of English to discuss issues, strategies, methodologies, and research in ELF, and encourage each other to provide what’s best for our multilingual, multicultural students and clients in this English speaking world.
