The area close to the plantation where the plotting and the planning occurred is where the maroons - those Afrikans who refused to remain enslaved - would gather. A safe space where ALL Black Lives Matter. New Afrika is a self-determination demand put forth during the Black Power Conference of 1968. More than 500 Black nationalists met in Detroit and put forth the demand that 10% of the US - 5 states - should be set aside for Black people, 10% of the US population, as part of our historic demand for reparations. Land, as Malcolm X said, is the basis of independence.
