Globally, all cities around the world have been impacted by Shocks and Stresses for many years now and the “C” word which we will not mention anymore has been the last straw. It’s now time for positive action to not only be able to recover, re-emerge and in some cases re-invent but to also learn from what just happened to us all globally and finally and hopefully pull together globally to seek out ways in which we can increase the resilience capacity of our cities. When faced again by similar challenges in the future we will be ready to respond - together hopefully as one globally supported by a global network of resilient cities - to ensure minimal impacts on humanity, economy and all other species on the planet. This Club is being created as a positive space to seek out answers to the potential challenges we will all face again in the future. Difference is that hopefully we can unite to prepare and respond together going forward. A U.K. guidance standard BS67000 was developed over 5 years with the support of the British Cabinet Office and British Standards Institute. That standard will be used as a benchmark for guidance but all other work from organisations such as the UN, RC100 programme and WHO will also be discussed and considered to seek out solutions we all agree make sense.
