“Emerging during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sankofa Sisters is a community foraged over Zoom. In this digital third space, peer mentoring builds on our shared wisdoms, experiences, and coursework through processes that support reciprocal transformation. Guided by the brilliance of our Elders, the Sankofa Sisters center Black Feminist and intergenerational wisdoms of the past, present, and future to create a community of joy during our journey through doctoral studies. Co-creating this third space builds posttraumatic growth. Community recharges, recenters, and grounds to create new meaning from the personal and collective voices they carry into the social, cultural, education, and professional worlds in which we participate.”
