1. Read a book (or at least attempt to) and speak up.: Do try to read so you can contribute to discussions. Don't be afraid to share your thoughts, even if you disagree with someone. Let your voice be heard!
2. Bring questions, take your turn and be polite.: Writing down your thoughts ahead of time can be a way of inciting conversation when it lulls.
3. Stick to the meeting agenda and don't steamroll.: Have regards for time. Everyone’s opinion matters, so it’s important to make sure everyone gets a chance to express themselves.
